Report on Draft Mediation Bill to be Published on 21st June 2012
The Government Joint Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality is due to publish their report on the general scheme of a Mediation Bill 2012. The report will be launched tomorrow the 21st June in Leinster House. The bill was originally published by the minister on the 1st March 2012 and then went to the committee. Mediate Ireland made written submissions and was one of 7 groups who made an oral presentation to the committee. Mediate Ireland will publish a review of the report and how it will affect legal practitioners in the coming weeks.
Mediate Ireland address the Government Joint Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality
Mark Small & Mary O’Dwyer from Mediate Ireland were invited to give an oral presentation to the Government Joint Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality on the 9th of May 2012, in relation to the proposed Mediation Bill 2012. This followed on from Mediate Ireland’s written submission to the committee. The main areas of concern that Mark raised at the meeting were, aspects surrounding Confidentially and a National Register for “Certified / Registered Mediators”
Mediation with Nama sought by Treasury
DEVELOPER TREASURY Holdings is seeking to engage in mediation with the National Asset Management Agency as an alternative to the litigation process it is embroiled in with the agency.
In a statement yesterday, Treasury called for a third party to negotiate with potential overseas investors in Irish property and loan portfolios, in order to “secure the best deal for Nama and the taxpayer”.
